Natural Family Planning (NFP) is the term used to describe monitoring the natural signs of fertility in order for couples to achieve or postpone preganancy without the use of any technology or methods contrary to Church teaching. It can also be used to monitor and address inferlitity or other health issues in a woman.
According to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, it "reflects the dignity of the human person within the context of marriage and family life, promotes openness to life, and recognizes the value of the child. By respecting the love-giving and life-giving natures of marriage, NFP can enrich the bond between husband and wife."
Taking a course in Natural Family Planning is part of our engagement prepration. You will be given more information during your marriage preparation on taking an approved NFP class together.
